A class action lawsuit has been filed against the government of British Columbia on behalf of former residents of the Woodlands Institute which operated in suburban New Westminster for more than 100 years before closing in 1996. The suit alleges that the government did not protect residents from years of sexual and physical abuse. (Jan-31-05)
