Class action status is being sought in a lawsuit filed against Village Voice Media, a Los Angeles alternative weekly newspaper, on behalf of hundreds of advertisers. The suit was filed in regards to advertising rate increases of 100%, which occurred following a 2002 deal where Village Voice paid $9 million dollars to NT Media to stop its New Times Los Angeles. The suit, which alleges antitrust violations, is seeking to prevent Village Voice from hiking its advertising rates and is asking for damages and court costs.
