Class action certification has been granted to lawsuit filed against the City of Warren, Michigan in May 2000. The suit was filed on behalf of thousands of residents whose property was damaged by trees planted by the city. The suit claims that the trees' roots have destroyed sewer pipes, causing sewage to back up into people's homes, ruined driveways and sidewalks, and wreaked havoc on homes, lawns, and gardens.
