A study published in the journal "Pediatrics" shows that trampoline injuries result in more than 60,000 visits to hospital emergency rooms each year. Children can incur sprains, fractures, and other dangerous injuries. Head traumas, spinal cord injuries, and broken necks can result in life-long disabilities and even death.
Injuries typically occur while playing on the trampoline. To prevent injuries, parents should be present when children are playing and should periodically check trampolines for defects or wear (broken springs or hooks, torn fabric).
The Consumer Product Safety Commission advises that children under 6 should not play on trampolines. Only one person should play on a trampoline at a time since 75% of injuries happened when more than one person was on a trampoline.
