Toyota Recalling One Million Trucks due to Flawed Parts
New York, NY: A subpoena has been issued for Toyota Motor Corp to present documents relating to steering problems in its vehicles. The subpoena was issued by a federal grand jury on June 29, 2010.
The documents reportedly relate to broken, fractured, or defective steering relay rods in Toyota vehicles, although the make and model years were not specified.
However, on September 6, 2005, Toyota filed a Defect Notice to recall near one million steering relay rods on Toyota 4Runners (model years 1990 –1995), Toyota Pickups (1989-1995) and Toyota T100 Trucks (model years 1993 – 1998). Then, on September 8, 2005 Toyota announced it was initiating a recall to check for and repair steering related defects that could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles. The recall involved over 980,000 vehicles in the United States alone.
The recall began in mid-September 2005 based on seven confirmed cases of the power-steering problem in T-100 vehicles, according to Toyota.
