International Business Machines Corp. and Lenovo

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Lenovo and IBM Corp. has recalled over 500,000 rechargeable, lithium-ion batteries used in ThinkPad notebook computers due to fire hazard. The recall involves about 168,500 battery packs sold in the United States and another 357,500 batteries sold around the world. These lithium-ion batteries were manufactured by Sony and can cause overheating, posing a fire hazard to consumers. The recalled lithium-ion batteries were sold with or sold separately to be used with ThinkPad notebook computers including the T Series (T43, T43p, T60), R Series (R51e, R52, R60, R60e), and X Series (X60, X60s). Consumers should stop using the recalled batteries immediately.
