A federal class action lawsuit has been filed against the agency for allegedly molesting, beating and sexually assaulting teenage boys at the facility. The lawsuit claims Texas Youth Commission staff violated inmates civil rights and denied them due process. Inmates allege they were punished for no good reason and were not allowed to contact their family or lawyers. In April, 2007, two former Texas Youth Commission employees were indicted in Ward County on charges they sexually abused teenage inmates.
