Class action status is being sought in a lawsuit filed against the State of Tennessee in regards to its new ''certificate of driving'' program for people who pass Tennessee's driving test but can't prove U.S. citizenship. The suit challenges the constitutionality of the new law, and also alleges that the plaintiffs and others were mistreated at driver testing stations in Nashville. The suit further claims that clerks at Tennessee driver's license testing stations have been confiscating plaintiffs' identification documents, which is a violation of a person's Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable search and seizure.
