Subaru Recalls 33,000 Impreza 2017 Vehicles Due to Stalling

- by

Santa Clara, CA: Subaru has issued a recall of 33,131 model year 2017 Impreza vehicles, due to a defect which involves fuel vaporization. Specifically, winter fuels may vaporize prematurely in the fuel line, resulting in a reduction in fuel pressure, possibly causing the engine to stall. Drivers may not be able to immediately restart the cars, increasing the risk of a crash.

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Association’s website, Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the engine control unit to turn the radiator cooling fan on at a lower temperature, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule and no date for the recall to begin has been set.

Subaru began investigating the issue in January after receiving several reports of stalling. No crashes or injuries have been reported.
