Station Casinos is facing a potential class action lawsuit over allegedly not paying its workers overtime and compensating them for all hours worked. The local gaming giant could be facing approximately 10,000 current and former employees in the class action, if it is so deemed. Three former team members that have filed the lawsuit allege that they were not paid for certain hours worked during a portion of their tenure at the company.
It is also alleged that Station had a policy at its properties that involved discouraging overtime, failing to pay employees for all hours worked, and rewarding supervisors for enforcing it. This policy was carried out, in part, by significantly rounding the hourly employees' starting and ending times of employment for each shift, forward and backward. As an example, if a worker is six minutes early for a shift and works overtime for six minutes at the end of his shift, using the rounding policy, he would not be paid for 12 minutes of his day. However, the same employee wouldn't get overtime for working six minutes extra, either.
