Johnson & Johnson, McNeil
January 31 2005
The Sugar Association, Merisant Worldwide Inc., and consumers are accusing the artificial sweetener company of misleading buyers about Splenda. The marketing campaign claims "Splenda is a no calorie sweetener that's made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar." The Sugar Association claims the company is misinforming consumers about their chlorinated chemical sweetener. (Jan-31-05)

I discovered I had an extreme sensitivity to sucralose about 20 years ago. I work diligently to avoid it, but just now I took a dose of generic Pepto Bismol for stomach distress and discovered it contained Sucralose. Now in addition to increased digestive issues, I have my additional sensitivity issues to deal with including ulcers on my bladder, kidney and liver inflammation, rashes and general malaise. I am so careful, and this one slipped by me. Food is bad enough, but so many medications now contain sucralose.

I began using splenda more frequently in 2016. I noticed my headaches increased tramendously. I also experienced dizziness immediately after using splenda sweetner. My headaches were so bad I went to the doctor and she educated me on how bad splenda sweetner really is and that it is not a low callorie sugar substitute that is healthy. I was misinformed by splenda's label.

It is now 2015, and Splenda is still on the market. One of my clients came in today with a headache that wouldn't go away, from a bite of cake that was made with Splenda. I had to educate her about the poison and how it affected her.
Please keep me informed of the lawsuit - as this website seems to be the latex entry on the net about this subject.
YET THE POISON REMAINS ON THE MARKET. FOR SHAME!

I located a page online that described my symptoms to a tee! I have had numbing on random parts of my body, the feeling that I am going to faint (including last night), severe bowel issues, gas pain, and a recent gallbladder surgery (May) all since I began using Splenda "made from sugar". I have lived my life in health until I began using Splenda. I am only 29 years old! I had no idea this sweetener could cause so much pain and suffering. I almost called 911 last night because it felt like a stroke.

I have suffered severe physical pain and discomfort, emotional stress and anxiety. My entire life has been flipped upside down and torn apart due to the use of this product. It has put financial stress on my entire family. It is unfair. Most symptoms have improved since I stopped using this poison but the damage has been done.

In the years that I have used splenda, I have suffered from dizziness, headaches, acid reflux, anxiety attacks, heart palpitations and arythmia, joint pain, problems concentrating, and I now have high blood pressure at 35 years of age. My entire adulthood, I've had low blood pressure. My 8 year old daughter and 14 year old son have also suffered from headaches and trouble with concentration and short term memory issues. I have just recently stopped using splenda as the result of some advise from a friend who encouraged me to check out a website of others who have had serious health problems associated with their use of Splenda. I was shocked, appauled and frightened that it is causing identical syptoms in countless others. All of this time I could'nt figure out nor could my doctor figure out what was happening to me. I've spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars in various medical tests. Please help me.

I began using Splenda packets, and , more recently, Splenda sweetened bottled water and coffee sweetener. I have suffered tremendous headaches, vertigo, and general malaise. I did not know what caused the symptoms, and sought relief at a general practitioner, an Urgent Care center, then a neurologist, an accupuncturist, etc. I have had days when I needed to pull off the road on the way to work because of the headaches and the feeling that I can only describe as a headache combined with being in some kind of motion picture where frames were missing.
I have been very careful with artificial sweeteners, and have steered away from NutraSweet and saccharin. I have been using Splenda because I thought it was safe, like sugar.
I started researching the 'net about Splenda and learned that others have had similar side-effects. I think we've been duped into believing that Splenda is safe.
I work in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. I feel foolish for being so trusting of this product before doing research.
