The retail brokerage arm of Citigroup has been charged with a national class action lawsuit alleging gender discrimination. Four female financial consultants claim Smith Barney has engaged in a pattern of gender discrimination through sales support, account distribution and compensation. The lawsuit claims the company is in violation of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act as well as the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
