A class action lawsuit has been filed against the county on behalf of school bus drivers alleging unpaid overtime. The lawsuit was filed in US District Court in West Palm Beach and claims drivers were not properly credited with time-and-a-half wages for working more than 40 hours a week. Palm Beach County School District switched to a new payroll system in 2006 and the lawsuit alleges it encountered implementation problems and willfully violated federal labor laws. Drivers claim their supervisors fail to accurately record overtime and pay stubs are confusing.
