A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the drug maker alleging gender discrimination of female sales representatives. The lawsuit was filed in US District Court of Manhattan in New York and claims female employees were barred from promotion opportunities, received lower pay rises than their male colleagues, and were subjected to abusive working environments.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of female current or former employees of the French pharmaceutical company's US unit, which is based in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Sanofi Aventis, the world's third largest drug maker, markets medicines, including sleeping pill Ambien and blood thinner Plavix.
