Class action status is being sought in a lawsuit filed against the Reno County Jail. The suit was filed by Richard Lingenfelter, a Hutchinson man who alleges that he was illegally arrested and held without probable cause for 10 days. The suit further claims that he was held without a warrant and with excessive bail. Lingenfelter claims that his, and hundreds of other people's, constitutional rights have been violated due to the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that a suspect must face a judge and probable cause must be determined within 48 hours of an arrest in the absence a search warrant.
