Apples that were sold at McDonald's, Burger King and various supermarkets and convenience stores have been recalled due to possible listeria contamination. The apple recall was announced by Ready Pac Foods Inc, from Irwindale, California, and affects fruit, vegetable and sandwich products that contain the apples.
In addition to sliced apple packs, the recalled apples were used in oatmeal, snack trays and fruit mixes. The recalled apples have use-by dates from July 8 through August 20. Ready Pac issued the recall after listeria was found on equipment used by one of the company's subsidiaries. According to CBS News (08/13/12), no injuries or illnesses linked to the recall have been reported.
