On Tuesday, February 16, 2015 I went into Puppy Palace and found the dog I had been searching for quite some time. I took him into the play area for about 1 hour and noticed he had a cough. I proceeded to advise management about this cough. Management told me that they would look into it since the vet was coming in the next day. On Wednesday, February 17, 2015, I contacted puppy palace to ask if he was ok to be released, they told me I could go in to pick him up. When I get there she asked me if I needed him to be bathed or I can take him home the way he was. My dog was full of urine. I told her he needed to be bathed. A few minutes later, she came back to tell me she had forgotten that the vet advised he stay overnight for observation for a cough. I had a few questions because it seemed a little strange. I asked to see the vet papers and nowhere on February 17, 2015 was the papers signed. After a few questions were asked she finally told me he was on medication but not what for. Also, that same night someone was to observe him as they advised, I stayed until the store closed and noticed everyone left as normal procedure leaving my dog alone with no one observing him. On Thursday February 18, 2015 I was finally able to pick up my dog. When he was finally released to me I noticed he was not bathed properly and had knots everywhere. On Friday February 19, 2015 I took him to a groomer that advised me my dog was very badly matted and could not be groomed instead shaved down because his knots were attached to his skin from lack of brushing and grooming prior to him coming home, so I did not let him get shaved instead I took him home to get a bath and have been trying to brush his knots out little by little every day. On Saturday, February 20, 2015 I took him to Aventura vet hospital for a check up on his cough since it was worrying me. They advised he had kennel cough, they also ran some other tests and advised he also had giardia. The weekend had passed and he seemed to be acting normal. Tuesday, February 23, 2015 he woke up very sluggish and did not want to eat. The vet advised I take him in again and have him checked. I rushed him over to find out my puppy that I have not even had for one week has pneumonia and had to be admitted immediately to get treated, run tests and stay hydrated. I was sold a sick puppy from puppy palace even after a vet released him as per the manager. The manager at puppy palace also advised me that she would have never noticed the cough if it wasn't brought to her attention, leading me to believe this is a facility that does not properly care/groom of their animals. They have yet to return my phone calls or do any follow ups with me. It is very disturbing that I now have to live in fear of my pet living a healthy normal life. This has already taken an emotional toll on me and the puppy having to go through so many hands. If it wasn’t that I had already fallen in love with my puppy, I would have never purchased an animal from this facility. It is not well maintained, it smells, the puppies are not groomed, not properly watched, kept in dirty cages and I have heard so many horror stories about this place. I know many people that refuse to go to puppy palace and others that have reported medical issues from this place. I am very surprised that compliance has approved of this facility unless no one has cared enough to make a visit, because I can almost guarantee they are not passing many compliance rules. I just hope that my puppy can come back strong and healthy and I can say that I have rescued him and given him a better life. But puppy palace should NOT be running this type of business. If you can do not care about lives then don’t deal with living things. These lives should matter just as much as any one else’s. It is not so much about the money that I had to pay for my puppy but I did not spend $5.00 on a puppy to be given such poor customer service and mistreatment of a puppy and lies of his health. I would hope to get a full refund of my money and have puppy palace investigated.
