A class action lawsuit has been filed against the glass, coatings, and chemicals company alleging employee age discrimination. The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court in Pittsburgh and claims several PPG Industries employees lost salary, bonuses, vacation time, insurance coverage, and pension benefits because they were forced to leave the company before their normal retirement age.
The suit claims that PPG Industries enforced aggressive workforce reductions that targeted older employees who had higher salaries and were close to retirement. Older employees often were dismissed without notice and without explanation.
