A class action lawsuit has been filed against Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. over the company's alleged policy of requiring workers to buy and wear Polo Ralph Lauren clothing as a condition of employment.

According to the suit, this policy violates the California Code of Regulations ยง 11040(9)(A) specifically states:
When uniforms are required by the employer to be worn by the employee as a condition of employment, such uniforms shall be provided and maintained by the employer.
The term "uniform" includes wearing apparel and accessories of distinctive design or color.
The lawsuit alleges that the company requires employees to buy in-season fashions and that employees are subject to inspections by management.
