Official Reporting Services
Class action status is being sought for a lawsuit filed against Official Reporting Services, a company that hires court reporters in South Florida. The suit alleges that certain court reporters have been widening the margins on the transcripts in order to increase the number of pages transcribed. The reporters are paid $5 a page, and according to the suit they may have been overbilling lawyers, governments and individuals by increasing the margins on their pages. The suit estimates that approximately 10,000 people may have been overcharged $1 million.
