A class action lawsuit has been filed against the hospital for allegedly knowing a nursing assistant molested patients and did nothing about it. The suit claims Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center failed to conduct adequate background checks on Ramon Eduardo Rodas Gaspar, the former certified nursing assistant who was wanted by police on suspicion of sexually fondling or groping more than 10 women while still sedated after surgery.
Gaspar worked at the medical center's Tarzana campus on Clark St. as a certified nursing assistant since 2004. He was suspended from the hospital in April 2006 and then fled with his wife and toddler son after jumping bail in July 2006.
