Microsoft

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the computer company alleging automatic Xbox Live renewals are in violation of consumer rights. The lawsuit claims Microsoft fraudulently induced contractual relationships for Xbox Live services. The suit also alleges the software giant is in violation of Georgia law by allowing minors to sign up for the service.

In its defense, Microsoft sends confirmation e-mails to the address on file whenever a purchase is made from an Xbox Live user's account. Additionally, it sends out renewal notices about a month before Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are about to expire or become automatically renewed. The renewal policy is also listed in the terms of conditions for new account purchases.

I am being charged hundreds of dollars by Xbox. I have changed cards on multiple occasions. No longer using my bank because they caused me to be overdrawn and my account to be closed. Used a whole different financial institution and they are still charging me multiple charges. When you look at my account there are no subscriptions or purchases. There should be 1 monthly charge. 2 nights ago they took out 80.00 in multiple charges I. 1 night. This goes back to November or before. I gave case numbers, reference numbers, filed disputes. Been discontinued from them. Promised call backs and never get them. I want my money back. Now they say they systems are not updated to help me that's been going on 3 days. They won't let me speak to a live person in the phone. During this s emergency time they gave left me with no money. Please get back to me

I used pay pal to do a one time one month subscription for my son. He didn't need more than a month because he was going away to camp for the summer. We selected non-renewing. I was charged repeated and, even after talking to a representative, was forced to block their billing at pay pal.

Since then, my son has had little trouble... until now. His Gold 1 year subscription has stopped working at 2 months in and I am at a loss while trying to get this fixed. There isn't even a number to call.

If my business tried this kind of crap, I know I'd end up in front of a judge.

By the way, this page keeps trying to kick me off as I type this.

I used my credit card on one occasion to purchase content on the Xbox Live network. After doing so, the console automatically stored my credit card information and did not allow me the option of deleting it. This concerned me because the Xbox console did not belong to me and I was not able to supervise its use. Xbox customer support refused to remove the card information from their servers. Several months later an unauthorized charge was made on my credit card. I was not in possession of the console at the time. I immediately called Xbox customer support and demanded that the charges be reversed and that my credit card information be deleted from their system. They refused to comply with either request, saying I would have to call my credit card company and have them block future charges from Xbox Live. In the end I had to cancel the credit card and request a different one with a new number.
