Sacramento County Sheriff's Department

A civil rights lawsuit and potential federal class action lawsuit was filed in US District Court in Sacramento alleging excessive force has taken place since 2003 at Sacramento's Main Jail. The main plaintiff allegedly was denied medical treatment. In another allegation, a sheriff's employee reported physical abuse by a deputy and six other allegations have been partially sustained. The suit is also seeking months of unedited jail videotape which intends to find other cases and ultimately change jail policies.
