Live Nation Facing Consumer Fraud Lawsuit over Springsteen Tickets

Los Angeles, CA: Live Nation Entertainment Inc is facing a consumer fraud class action lawsuit alleging the concert ticketing and promotion company held back Bruce Springsteen concert tickets, forcing fans into a secondary market where they paid inflated prices for the tickets.

Filed by Marilyn Forst in New Jersey federal court, the lawsuit alleges Live Nation withheld over 5 percent of the Springsteen concert tickets from releast to the general public, in violation of New Jersey consumer protection laws.

The tickets were for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band' 2012 Wrecking Ball Tour concerts, specifically, two shows in April 2012 and three in September 2012, all in New Jersey. Forst alleges Live Nation had deals with brokers to purchase large blocks of tickets for the concerts before those tickets were offered to the public, in violation of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act.

According to the complaint on January 27, 2012, Forst bought two tickets to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band' concert on April 3, 2012, at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. She claims to have paid $225 per ticket, plus $56.95 in additional fees, which she says was "far in excess of the face value of the tickets."Forst claims there are potentially thousands of ticket buyers who were vicitimized by the defendant' business practices. In the lawsuit,Marilyn Forst v. Live Nation Entertainment Inc. et al, case number 3:14-cv-02452, in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, Forst seeks injunctive relief, damages and compensation to all class members from the defendant under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, interest, disgorgement and associated costs of the lawsuit.
