Two residents of Minnesota are suing the tobacco giant R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, in a suit seeking class action on behalf of all people in the state who have smoked the company's 'light' brands of cigarettes.
Rather than claiming ill health as a result of using the tobacco products, the plaintiffs are alleging they were deceived by the company's advertising and marketing, specifically that which related to the implications of smoking 'light' cigarettes. The plaintiffs also claim that the cigarette manufacturer engaged in deceptive and unfair business practices around the promotion of these products in a variety of ways.
