Latin music superstars Willy Chirino and Lissette Alvarez filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of all Latino musicians against Tropical Zone Group, a Miami karaoke-recording company, claiming the company sold approximately 300 cover CDs with their music and photos without their permission. A cover CD is a CD where another artist sings someone else's songs. Rights were never obtained by the company.
Furthermore, by using the artists' names and photos on the covers, buyers were led to believe these were the actual performers on the CD, although there is a small disclaimer on the back of the CD stating they are not.
