San Francisco - Current and former employees of Inter-Con Security Services have filed a class action lawsuit in US District Court in San Francisco. Workers from the global security firm claim that Inter-Con failed to pay overtime wages in violation of federal and California state labor laws. The proposed class of plaintiffs includes approximately 2,000 security guards in California, and possibly many more throughout the United States could be included. The complaint charges that Inter-Con unlawfully requires its security guards to attend fifteen minute security briefings prior to each eight hour shift without paying them.

I worked for Intercon from April 2006-April 2009 in Washington, DC and Virginia. I attended daily Guard mounts, which is a mandatory meeting 15 minutes prior to the start of my shift without being compensated for overtime. In addition, in order to avoid overtime hours among the guards, we had to travel from 1 site to another to avoid overtime hours worked.
