Houston, TX: A data breach class action lawsuit has been filed against The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) pursuant to a data breach the government agency reported in May. The breach is thought to affect roughly 330,000 taxpayers.
Lead plaintiffs in the suit, Texas residents Becky Welborn and Wendy Windrich, allege that the hackers gained access to personal data via the "Get Transcript"application on the IRS website.
In May, the IRS announced that criminals used taxpayer-specific data acquired from non-IRS sources, including Social Security information, tax filing statuses, birth dates and street addresses to gain access.
Plaintiffs are represented by California law firm McCuneWright, LLP, Abbott Law Group, Morgan & Morgan, and Rhine Law Firm PLC.
My husband and I received notice from IRS of the breach and subsequently someone tried to file taxes against our Social Security numbers!
We just received another notice two weeks ago that there was another attempt.

Please include us in the IRS breach. We had to pay monthly filing payments with all information, street address, etcetera. Thank you for your assistance.
