A class action lawsuit has been filed against American Honda Motor Corporation on behalf of of purchasers of the company's Sports Utility Vehicle CR-Vs, model years 2003 and 2004 in connection with American Honda's sale of defective CR-Vs for these model years. The suit alleges that due to a design defect relating to the vehicles' O-Ring gaskets, oil leaks onto the vehicles' hot exhaust systems, rapidly igniting, and causing the CR-Vs model years 2003 and 2004 to burst into flames. The defect has caused many vehicles to be totally destroyed; yet the company has neither issued a recall nor warned consumers of this defect. The suit alleges breaches of the California Legal Remedies Act, and the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act.
