Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner

A class action lawsuit is proposed against the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner's office after it accused a New Zealand father and son team of selling about $3 million in bogus automobile policies to taxi and limousine services in Georgia. The allegations brought about by the state agency were dismissed a year later by the state Attorney General's office, after the son spent three weeks in jail and an arrest warrant was issued for his father. They both were charged with 40 counts of theft by deception, 40 counts of insurance fraud and one count of racketeering. The two men are now asking 150 taxi and limo companies - their former clients - to join a class action lawsuit, claiming that the policies were paid and they were unjustly accused.
