Foxtons

A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the discount real estate brokerage for allegedly firing employees without sufficient warning. The lawsuit was filed in Federal Court in Trenton, NJ and claims Foxtons laid off 350 of its 380 workers in late September without 60 days notice as required by the Federal WARN Act.

Founded in 1999 as YHD Realty, Foxtons offered commissions ranging from 2 to 4 percent, compared with the traditional 5 percent or 6 percent charged by most real estate agents. In recently filing for bankruptcy protection, Foxtons listed its liabilities at $40.9 million and assets at only $487,757.

I was terminated in May 2006 but didnt know if I was entitled to complain. I was with Foxtons for over 4 years without ONE write up or problem in my file. I was let go with 3 weeks severance pay. I believe everyone at Foxtons was an "at will" employee so I didnt think I could do anything about the termination. I was let go and escorted off the premises within 10 minutes...without any good reason.
