A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against Merck, the maker of Fosamax. The lawsuit claims the the drug can cause Osteonecrosis of the jaw in cancer patients. The lawsuit was filed in Ontario Superior Court on behalf of the drug's users. Fosamax is one of the most prescribed drugs to increase bone density in patients with osteoporosis. This Canadian lawsuit claims Fosamax side effects can lead to osteonecrosis, or bone death in the jawbone. The lawsuit also alleges Merck knew about the side effects, but withheld that information from the public.
