I thought one of the foundations of modern societies is that citizens have no obligation or should not face a penalty to pay fees to which they have never given a clear straightforward consent. It looks like the Fedex and UPS brokery fees are an exemption to this fundamental human right. It's like a rape case scenario! A guy sends a letter to a woman demanding sex. The woman says I never gave consent to sleep with you. The guy answers: well, I came and fixed that problem in your house. On my way, I had to pass a toll route and then stop at a gas station to fill up my truck's tank. All of these were for the sake of coming to your place and fixing your problem. The woman answers: You should have been upfront about your fees and demands. You never mentioned the sex requirement. The man says: well, when you asked for my services, this already means you agreed with my untold terms and conditions. Woman says: I wasn't not aware of those terms and conditions. The man says: you are still held accountable and if you don't pay your debt, I will forward you to a collection agency to pick up the money.
