Fayette - Employees of the Fayette County Detention Center have field a lawsuit against the city claiming they are required to work overtime without pay, and short changed on rest and lunch breaks. The lawsuit is seeking class action status and alleges the city engaged in long standing, widespread and multiple violations of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and the Kentucky Wage and Hours Act. Employees claim they regularly work more than eight hours a day and 40 hours a week without being paid overtime and are required to be in uniform and report for briefings five minutes before their shifts begin.
