A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the online social network alleging its text messaging service subjects customers to unwanted and explicit messages on mobile phones. The lawsuit was filed in San Jose Federal Court and seeks to represent all customers who have received unwanted phone texts. The suit claims people were charged 10 cents for each message and were unable to block Facebook texts without blocking other wanted messages.
The suit alleges Facebook has profited from its members sending thousands of unauthorized text messages to mobile phone users whose numbers previously belonged to other people.
