A lawsuit filed in Will County, IL Circuit Court argues that faulty maintenance by Exelon Corp. at Braidwood, its twin reactor plant, led to repeated leaks of radioactive waste water contaminated with tritium. The lawsuit was filed seeking class action status on behalf of 14,000 people who live in the vicinity of the plant. It alleges the company did not explain thoroughly the situation to the public and authorities and may be endangering the public by storing radioactive waste outside in steel tanks which may be vulnerable to tornadoes.
