A $43 million dollar lawsuit has been filed against DESCO Group and DFC Group, the companies who are developing the Old Post Office Building in downtown St. Louis. The suit was filed by two downtown residents who claim that their property values will be diminished if the defendants are allowed to demolish the Century Building to make way for the project's parking garage. According to the plaintiff's attorney, "there are two individuals who believe that their property and other property owners' investments are going to be damaged by the demolition of the Century Building. We will put on evidence that there is a diminution in value."
If granted class status, the suit could represent up to 300 people, including all property owners, both commercial and residential, in the area bounded by 18th Street, Market Street, Memorial Drive and Cole.
