New York, NY: A data breach has occurred at White Lodging, a company that maintains Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton and Westin hotel franchises . The data breach is reported to have exposed guests' credit and debit card information in 2013.
According to media reports, banking industry sources noticed fraud involving hundreds of cards that had been previously used at Marriott hotels. However, there is a pattern to this fraud in that it was seen at specific Marriott locations, including those in Austin, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Louisville and Tampa. All these locations are managed by White Lodging.
"An investigation is in progress, and we will provide meaningful information as soon as it becomes available," Merrillville, Indiana-based White Lodging said in a statement February 2. Marriott has said they are monitoring the situation.
White Lodging Services manages 168 hotels in 21 states.
