Two class action lawsuits have been filed against Cypress Gardens in Florida on behalf of former employees. One of the suits was filed for violations of the federal WARN Act, which prohibits employers from staging a mass layoff without 60 days' written notice. The second suit was filed in state court and claims sick time/vacation pay violations. The suit represents approximately 400 employees who were out of a job when the 67-year-old attraction was abruptly closed on April 13 due to dropping attendance and a stagnating tourism industry.
