Citizens Property Insurance Corporation

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the insurance provider for allegedly failing to pay or properly adjust claims. The lawsuit was filed in the Dade County Circuit Court on behalf of Miami-Dade and Broward County residents whose homes were insured by Citizens Property Insurance Corporation during Hurricane Wilma. The case claims Citizens ignored Florida Building Code requirements with regard to the replacement of windows damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Wilma.

Citizens allegedly disregarded the Florida Building Code by failing to replace hurricane damaged windows with either high impact glass or non-impact glass and a hurricane shutter. The lawsuit claims the company has put South Floridians at increased risk for future storms.

We had many damages to our property at KeyWest from Wilma. Citizens sent Rimkus to see damages. We had just bought the property and they said that damage occured in their mind before the hurricane!!! We have photos and CDs of our new home before and after the damage!
