A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the electronics retailer alleging age discrimination and wrongful termination. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court after 3,400 Circuit City employees were laid off as part of a restructuring measure. The employees claim Circuit City violated California Law prohibiting age discrimination. The company laid off workers earning well above the market-based salary range for their role and will replace them with lower paid new hires. The lawsuit claims workers were fired because they were better paid than other workers due to their higher seniority at the stores.

I was a 23 year veteran with Circuit City. I had been a manager, and had temporarily switched back to salesman awaiting another management position. I am 52. ( The people that made the most money, had been there the longest, and consequently were the oldest.) I was fired 12 days into a 6 week corporate approved Short Term Disability. Also did C.C. violate the Dept. of Labor W.A.R.N. act, by terminating more than 500 people at one time without proper 2 month notice?
