Candy suppliers and consumers have filed three lawsuits alleging several chocolate companies are involved in a price fixing scheme. The lawsuits were filed in US Middle District Court in Harrisburg and allege price manipulation by Hershey, Mars, Nestle USA, and Cadbury Schweppes affected buyers of chocolate candy.
Court documents released in December 2007 contained allegations that the Canadian divisions of Nestle, Mars, Hershey and others teamed up in a price fixing scheme in the multibillion-dollar Canadian chocolate bar market. The accusations were in two search warrants granted to Canada's federal Competition Bureau.
