New York - On August 28, 2006 a Greyhound bus carrying 54 people crashed on Interstate 87 in upstate New York. Five people were killed in the accident and all of the 49 survivors were taken by ambulance to area hospitals, many with serious and critical injuries to the spine and head. The bus was driven by Ronald Burgess and was traveling from New York City to Montreal. Burgess, a father of two high school graduates, was killed in the crash. Survivors of the crash have filed a lawsuit and are seeking class action status against the transportation company claiming negligence when the driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.
