A lawsuit seeking class action status claims thousands of burials at the Miami cemetery were not properly recorded, making it nearly impossible for relatives to locate graves of the dead. The case claims more than 5,460 bodies buried at Graceland Memorial Park South are essentially lost because of mismanaged record keeping and destroyed or nonexistent grave markers. The lawsuit also alleges the cemetery unearthed gravesites and removed the lid from a burial vault. The Graceland Memorial Park South in Miami, Florida is owned by Cincinnati-based Alderwoods Group.
