Northern Beef Packers et al.

A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status on behalf of Aberdeen homeowners whose property values have decreased. The lawsuit was filed against Northern Beef Packers, H&S Land and Livestock, and Hub City Livestock who plan to build a beef processing plant south of town. The lawsuit claims the defendants annoy, injure and endanger the comfort, repose, health or safety of the neighborhood and the community at large. It alleges the beef plant will cause loud noises, glare from lights, fumes and noxious odors, and an unsightly nature. The lawsuit also claims the defendants have violated South Dakota state and county zoning ordinances.
