American Medical Response

Spokane, WA residents tried to file a class action lawsuit against the nation's largest ambulance company for allegedly over billing hundreds of patients and insurance companies. American Medical Response (AMR) tried to get the lawsuit dismissed, but a Spokane County Superior Court Judge ruled Spokane residents who used AMR ambulances since 1998 can pursue state Consumer Protection Act and breach of contract claims against the company. Several patients were charged for advanced life support when only basic life support was applied. The certified lawsuit was filed on behalf of 30,000 patients who were transported by AMR ambulances between 1998 to present.

AMR is corrupt they want thousands of dollars for a 911 transport. My son, myself and my husband have been receiving bogus bills for transports that occurred almost 3 years ago! They don't bill my insurance no matter how many times I've sent copies of my card! I tried calling and the girl was like a zombie. So people will die because they can't even call 911 due to this corrupt company.

I keep receiving bills from AMR for an ambulance run from West Georgia Medical Center in Lagrange GA to an apartment complex in Lagrange GA on July 16, 2023. Which is interesting since at the exact time, I was 900 miles away!!!!
I have contacted them via telephone, and mail. Yet they continue to bill. If they have somehow decided to bill me- a non patient, I can only imagine how they are over billing their real patients.

At age 70, I have Medicare plus USAA supplemental insurance (I'm a veteran), which takes care of everything for me, apart from a $20 dr. office copay. Last Fall, I needed an ambulance. AMR showed up. I rec'd a bill from AMR in December of 2021. They said Medicare had denied payment (due to AMR's coding, apparently, as a non emergency--I had passed out and learned I had a pulmonary embolism at the hospital. I would say it was an emergency. I appealed the decision with Medicare. It was approved in my favor and paid in May 2022, as did my supplemental, thereby satisfying the whole thing, Unfortunately, I did not learn they had approved it until yesterday, Aug 3.

In the meantime, before the appeal, I worried about it showing up on my credit report and they pressured me to start making payments on auto deduct from my bank to the tune of $68/mo. Thus far, I have paid them $511. Medicare paid them $565, and supplemental $102. They owe me $511. Their billing people are in India and other parts of the world. Yesterday, I called them and they confirmed the Medicare/supplemental payments. Said they would investigate I would get my refund in 30 days.

Today I woke up to another bill from them for $575! OMgee! I called and now they say Medicare still owes more--I don't know the story kept changing. They would investigate and refund me when it's done. I demanded a refund saying this had nothing to do with me. Nothing, no success, just lies. I told them they were scamming me and Medicare is in touch.
I then let Medicare know again, and they are now going after them on my behalf, but not re the refund.

I see legal nightmares with them when I google it. They are notorious for this behavior. I live in Oregon.

Why am I being billed $1300.22 for a ride across the parking lot of Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital to the imaging center. The hospitals imaging machine went down that day (umm not my problem) and they had to use the one at the imaging center .02 miles away! Literally across the parking lot. I could have walked there! Not even a half a mile both ways!

My beef with AMR is that they do not bill. My elderly sister has had several emergencies that required an ambulance. AMR is the only one in our area. I have never received a bill from them. Yet, I get collection notices from Credence AFTER they have turned the account over for collections. Then they tell you that you have several other accounts with balances. If I had known she owed, I would have taken care of it, but being sent collection letters from Credence as the first billing is not the proper way to do business. And when you call Credence, they are RUDE. They demand money on the spot. And in full. My sister is on Medicaid so she only gets $38.00 month. If I had a choice, I would not have AMR transport my sister EVER.

My 16-year-old daughter was transported by AMR to the Emergency Room for attempted suicide. AMR is now trying to bill us for $4,500 for a 4-mile, 6-minute trip to the Emergency room, and we live in a city where other ambulances are readily available. For some reason AMR was contacted by 911 and provided the service. It just so happen that AMR has no contract with our insurance provider. Our insurance stated that the recommended amount is $954 for similar trips. AMR: which insurance companies do you have contract with? If you have no contract with any Insurance company and believe that you can bill any amount, including the unreasonable amounts, then chances are, you will get a class-action lawsuit against you. Bad reviews here, so I'm not the only victim

we already paid AMR billing last two yyears ago then we were shocked we did not pay to owe by collector last summer and one year. we already paid 614.oo from AMR, Cromwell, Connecticut. I made to copy and show them last summer. I received from my bsbc insurance paid them. They paid $500.00 then we paid 114.00. AMR never tell us to explain why.without detail and reason. I did called collection agency they were verbal abusive because my mother in law called them. They wont listen me and my mother in law. My printer is broken long time ago so I completed to fix. If you need to get proof statements . reason that we are hearing impairment but we believe that it supposed free without fee. we are confused and don't understand why because AMR did not tell us without reason and they were verbal abuse.

My insurance company paid what AMR submitted as a claim. I later received a bill from a collection agency for $115. After speaking with three employees from AMR one being a supervisor I was told this had been submitted to the collection agency by mistake and would be removed. After checking my report to verify it had been removed I was told three (3) times by the supervisor at AMR Michelle and twice by the employee LaTonya at the collection agency it had been taken care of and a letter had been mailed on 8/30th stating such. 9/7/16 I received a phone call (31/2 weeks later) by Michelle saying "The collection agency said the $115 was due and it would not be removed." How????? To add insult to injury a separate bill for my daughter was submitted for over $900 to a collection agency...get this it had NEVER been submitted to my insurance company for payment. According to my insurance this happens ALL of the TIME with this company.
