A putative class action lawsuit has been filed against the credit card company alleging misleading and fraudulent advertising related to cash rebates for its Blue Cash card. The case was filed on behalf of all those who applied for and received the card from September 30, 2003 to the present and did not get the rebates provided in the offer.

Amex did not notify me of my card cancellation effective 11/26/08. I tried to use my card and was stranded while on business without my credit card(all but my Amex I would leave at home). Now, Amex is not honoring my rebate which they claim is forfeit because my card was canceled. I did not cancel my card, Amex canceled my card. I was told I was past due 30 days in Feb and this was the reason for my cancellation. I believe this to be a dirty way for Amex to immediately realize relief on their liabilities by rescinding cards at year end without honoring the rebate commitments. On a large scale, this would save Amex large sums of money.
