AIG, the insurance giant recently bailed out by the federal government with $85 million, has announced that it will pay $18 million to settle with the father of a young man who suffered brain damage and resulting speech and movement impairment after being hit by a truck.
The settlement provides $6 million immediately to the family, and will invest $6 million for future costs. The settlement also tentatively provides for $6 million in fees to the family's attorneys, however the judgement is pending on that.
