At approximately 80,000 miles the car started making a small shudder when accelerating at around 20 to 30 mph. We didn't realize that this was a symptom of transmission problems. Now the vehicle has 112,000 miles and over the last week the transmission has gotten increasingly worse until today it was so severe that my husband parked it and I had to pick him up.

I have had to pay out of pocket for a new transmission (the first time it was covered under warranty). Both times, I have lost the use of my vehicle which is my primary means of transportation for a considerable period of time while it is being repaired - for almost a month the second time due to the part being on back order. Most significantly, I now drive in fear that something is going to go wrong with my transmission again and cause me to have a serious accident due to transmission failure.

Original transmission replaced at 75K miles. Vehicle just had a complete transmission failure at 152K miles during operation of vehicle at approx. 45 mph causing loss of control of vehicle(no injuries but about $1500 damage to front bumper after sliding into guard rail). Acura refuses assistance stating that the second transmission is too far out of warranty. Won't even consider partial assistance unless I tow myself to an Acura dealer for diagnosis. It has already been "diagnosed" by an ASE certified mechanic and it will cost me several hundred dollars to tow with no guarantee of help. And, who is going to pay for the body damage from hitting guardrail??
