Target Announces Recall of 17,400 Children's Toy Trucks due to Choking Hazard

On July 19th, Target Corp. of Minneapolis, Minnesota announced a recall of 17,400 "So Hot Way Cool Free Wheel Trucks" based on information apparently alleging that small parts can fall off the toy, posing a significant and dangerous choking hazard to young children. Target did not indicate if they have received any reports of choking due to this defect issue.

The recall includes four-piece "So Hot Way Cool Free Wheel" Truck sets. Various trucks sold in the sets include a combination of fire trucks, oil trucks, vegetable trucks, sanitation trucks, tow trucks and box trucks. Writing on the trucks includes, "EMERGENCY" or "CITY SERVICE." The words "So Hot Way Cool Free Wheel Truck" and the item number 204 02 0838 are written on the packaging.

Made in China, these toy trucks were sold in Target stores throughout the US from April 2005 and May 2005 for about $5 each.

Parents are strongly urged to take the toy trucks away from their children and return the product to their local Target Retailer for a $5 gift card and equivalent applicable taxes.
